Mizzou Women's Golf MountainView Invitational Program

Men's Basketball Recap vs. Alabama

Overview:

Before I came to college, I didn't have a professional goal.  I knew I wanted to write and wanted to create.  I also knew I wanted to be involved in sports, since it was my favorite thing growing up.  But something that combined all of those elements seemed too good to be true.

However, I was quickly able to find my niche at the University of Missouri when I joined one of the best NCAA Media Relations teams in the country. To do this job, it is essential that you are well-rounded. During my internship, I have had to write and design content for both print and digital platforms, package statistics, operate social media, and manage relationships with student-athletes, coaches, the media, and the fans of the University of Missouri.

I have been allowed to grow in a program headed by some great mentors.  My love of sports and my love of Mizzou have made this a perfect match, and hopefully a springboard into my first career.

Jawbone Up 4 Class Campaign

Presentation:

Jawbone UP4 Presentation

Overview:

When you are being recruited to the University of Missouri Journalism School, the main selling point is the use of the Missouri Method, which means regularly applying learned skills in real world simulations.  Largely, my first two years at the University were a lot of learning.  Then, all of a sudden, I had to start doing.

In my first real taste of what it would be like to work in the advertising world, my team and I were tasked with creating a comprehensive ad campaign for the Jawbone UP4, a wearable fitness tracker that is struggling to keep up with its competition in Fitbit and Garmin.  As a unit, we were responsible for creating two print ads, a video ad, a PR event, a style guide and presenting it all to our professors as if they were real clients. During this process, I served as the team's copywriter, meaning I was responsible for creative written content in the presentation, the print ads, and the script for the video ad.  I was lucky enough to work with a very talented team of fellow Mizzou students in order to make this presentation professional, fun, and effective.

The Bravante Story

Overview:

Working for a boutique winery in the Napa Valley is definitely an experience unlike anything else. Combine that with the fact that your family is a founding partner of said winery, and the stakes are raised. They are invested in you.

Charged with establishing a new brand identity in order to reach a newer, more niche target audience, the other employees and I decided on a simple but resounding message: Bravante Wine is Your Wine.  We knew that as a smaller winery, we could not offer a lot of the benefits of the big names.  However, we felt what we could offer was a personalized experience that customers could make all their own.  With an extraordinary location on the famed Howell Mountain in Angwin, Ca., a tasting and tour that could be catered to individual group needs, as well as a quality selection of boldly flavored wines that are always made with the greatest of detail in mind, Bravante Vineyards always had the potential to offer a unique experience that could be tailored to fit the needs of each individual customer.  We just had to capitalize on it.

Miscellaneous Projects

Concept Design: Create a design that conveys an issue visually.  I chose to convey race relations with the chess board concept.

Magazine Redesign: Take your favorite magazine and make it your own.  The assignment was to change the pictures and cover, but I also decided to write a story.  It seemed too fun to pass up.  And I have always wanted to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

About Me: An introduction assignment in which we were tasked with telling our story in a unique way.

Birkenstock Intro Ad: This was the first in a series of ads for our assigned client, which was Birkenstock.  In all Birkenstock Ads, we were responsible for the writing and design.

Birkenstock Campaign, "The Lazy Sandals" Ad 1: This was the first of a two part ad campaign. Unlike the intro ad, we were tasked with making two ads that had the same feel and same message, to simulate a real ad campaign.

Birkenstock Campaign, "The Lazy Sandals" Ad 2: This is the second ad in the Lazy Sandals campaign that I created for class.
