SELECTION

In order to apply for the Bravante Mothers’ Scholarship, students will excel in the classroom, show exemplary character, and must have considerable financial needs related to a possible college education. The selection committee, made up of our Scout Team and the Bravante Family, will take these and other important factors into account when considering applications.

The Scout Team, comprised of counselors and teachers at RHS, will start evaluating potential recipients during the end of their freshmen years. Each Scout will earmark students they believe both need the scholarship and are worthy of it. Once a student has been earmarked, our Scouts will approach them about applying during the fall of their sophomore years, and will take on the roll of Sponsor. Once the student has been sponsored, they will enter the active applicant pool. All those who apply must be sponsored by a Scout.

Once a Scout sponsors a student, applicants will be encouraged to fill out a brief written application, which will include basic demographic information and a short answer portion. If they make it past this first stage, the applicants will interview with the Bravante Family. The scholarship recipient for that year will be chosen from that pool based on a mix of their interview and their written application.

PREPARATION

Once selected, our scholar will receive not only the promise of a strong financial package to aid them in their pursuit of higher education, but also a bevy of resources to use during the remainder of their high school career. These resources include: tutoring for high school classes; high school class selection; college counseling; SAT/ACT prep; college visit funds; college application assistance/financial aid; and more.

In order to receive these services, and any others, scholars must remain in contact with their mentor, who will be one of the Bravantes. These mentors will be assigned once the scholar is selected and remain with them through their college years. Once the need is identified, the scholarship will do everything it can to fill it.

EDUCATION

Once the student has picked and been accepted into a school of their choosing, the scholarship will provide the resources it takes to help students achieve their collegiate dreams. Based on other financial help the student receives from FAFSA, the college, and other scholarships earned, total amounts provided by the BMS will vary.
